Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has banned all passenger planes from entering Uganda following the confirmation of the first Coronavirus disease in the country. The president also banned people from neighboring countries entering Uganda through any of its ports of entry. Those who will be cleared to enter must proceed to a 2 weeks’ self-quarantine.
The Minister for Health Ruth Aceng announced the first confirmed case asking members of the public not to panic as the country had already tracked down all people who were in contact with patient zero upon landing at the airport.
The first Coronavirus patient is a Ugandan who arrived in the country on Saturday night at 2am aboard Ethiopian Airline from Dubai. The patient had fever and other symptoms of Coronavirus. He was transferred to Entebbe Grade B hospital where he was tested and found to be infected with Coronavirus disease. Strict measures have therefore been put in place to curb any spread.
