Deputy president William Ruto’s grass to grace story still puzzles many. Whereas many politicians who have risen to the apex of Kenyan Politics have a rich history with some renowned family names, Ruto has none. From selling chicken in Turbo, Ruto made his way to the member of parliament then government minister before taking up the second in command post in Uhuru’s government. Some consider him a political genius.
Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on the other hand believes that Ruto’s success story has some forces behind it. Taking to social media, the vocal Uhuru ally stated that Ruto was created by freemasons in the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi’s regime. He observes that if history is keenly studied, one would realize his Star started shining during the Moi era. Ngunyi opines that there is no other logic that can explain the Ruto factor in the Kenyan political space.
“William RUTO was created by the FREEMASONS in the MOI Government. FACT. This is HOW a CHICKEN SELLER from SUGOI became Deputy President from NOWHERE. True or True? Check HISTORY,” shared Mutahi Ngunyi on Twitter.
According to online sources, Ruto used to be KANU Youth leader before being elected as its Secretary General. In 1997 he vied for the Member of Parliament for Eldoret North Constituency and won. He served in that capacity between 1997 and January 2013. He was appointed to the position of Assistant Minister in the Office of the President by President Daniel Arap Moi in 1998.
This assertions by Mutahi Ngunyi has elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans. Here are some of the reactions on Twitter.
