Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has kept the pledge he made to a needy student who reported to school with just two bars of soap and an empty metallic box.
Starting early this week, form one students started joining their respective schools.
As a normality, new students are expected to arrive to their schools with necessary required learning materials and even food stuffs.
However, that was not the case with one needy student, Levis Otieno Rabar, who had been admitted at Kanga High School, in Migori County, Nyanza.
The 13-year-old arrived in school accompanied by his mother, with an empty box that had nothing apart from two-bars of soap. He did not have even bedding alone.
His story moved many Kenyans when Milele FM presenter Jalang’o alias Jalas aired it.
Among those who were moved by the story was Joho, who called the station and pledged to give the boy at least Sh250,000.
This Friday, Joho sent Mombasa based musician, Susumila, to deliver the cash to Jalas while on his radio tour for his new song, ‘Sonona’
After receiving the cash, Jalas said he will be deposing the money to the student’s account come Monday.
Joho gave a total of Sh253, 000
“Governor, we say thank you for helping Otieno. The package you have sent through Susumila, has reached us,” said Jalang’o as quoted by k24.
