A video showing the arrest of outspoken activist Mildred Atty has emerged online.
In the video, she was head saying at least ten officers had shown up at her house to arrest her.
She said the officers had come with a total of five police vehicles.
Officers were heard taking her phone after they realised she recording them.
Her arrest has sparked debates on social media, with Nairobi based activist Boniface Mwangi being one of those who have reacted to her arrest.
Through his Twitter post, the controversial activist has faulted the police on how they arrested the Mildred Atty.
According to him, Kenya Police Forces are very brutal to those who dare challenge their criminal activities.
He aleged without proof that while arresting Mildred, the officers who were deployed teargassed her and even killed her dog.
Kenya Police behave like criminals when going after active citizens. Anyone who dares challenge their criminality is targeted with brutal force, batons, teargas and bullets. They have teargassed Mildred Atty’s house, shot her dog dead, insulted, assaulted and then arrested her,” he tweeted
Mwangi went further and alleged that the reason why Mildred was arrested in such a manner was because she had challenged a corrupt police officer, and for that matter, the officers are pulling out a revenge on her.
He said that Mildred was served the very same like they did to lawyer Miguna Miguna.
The level of violence meted to Mildred Atty was because she dared challenge a corrupt police officer. They want to use her as a lesson to deter citizens from calling out and recording corruption. It’s the same level of violence they used on Miguna for swearing Raila as president,” he added
