President Uhuru Kenyatta and first lady Margaret Kenyatta were today morning spotted at the Lee Funeral home after they went to condole a close family member who passed on today. The Star reports that President Uhuru’s niece collapsed and died in the morning and the body was moved to Lee Funeral home for temporary storage as they mobilized family members for cremation.
Journalists were barred from covering the first family visit to the Lee funeral home but the Star managed to take some photographs of the president and the first lady at the parlor. After sometime, the hearse carrying the body of the president’s niece was pictured leading the way as the entourage left Lee Funeral home heading to an undisclosed location. President Uhuru Kenyatta was driving while first lady Margaret Kenyatta was seated on the front passenger seat.
This came just hours after the president woke up to mourn Nyamira county governor John Obiero Nyagarama who succumbed to Covid-19 today morning at the Nairobi Hospital. In his condolence message, the president eulogized Nyagarama as a witty, kind, friendly and approachable leader. He wished God’s comfort and fortitude to the family, friends and Nyamira residents as they come to terms with the loss.
“President Kenyatta has mourned Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama, who passed away Friday morning, as a distinguished and true servant of the people whose contribution to the development of the tea sector in Kenya and service to the people of Nyamira County shall be dearly missed,” read part of the condolence message on Statehouse Kenya social media.
Governor Nyagarama was admitted at Nairobi Hospital about three weeks ago after contracting the novel corona virus disease. He was on treatment since with the County Director of communication reporting last week that he was responding well to treatment. However, on Monday this week, his condition worsened and he was put on life support in the Intensive care Unit. He passed away on Friday morning.
