Deputy chief justice Philomena mbete mwilu has been arrested and taken to the directorate of criminal investigations headquarters for questioning. Lady justice Philomena Mwilu was picked up at the Supreme Court by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations. She was escorted by Director of Criminal Investigations Mr. George Kinoti.
DPP Noordin Haji held a press briefing shortly after her arrest to shed light on the matter. During the press briefing, the Director of Public Prosecution Mr. Noordin Haji said Justice Mwilu will be charged with abuse of office, receiving bribe and failing to pay taxes. She is linked to some unlawful transactions involving the Imperial Bank which collapsed.
This happened after several meetings of the Judicial Service Commission and the Judiciary hours before the arrest.
The Director of Public Prosecution Mr. Noordin Haji is confident the evidence presented before him was sufficient to warrant the opening of criminal charges against the Kenya’s deputy president of the Supreme Court Philomena Mbete Mwilu.
She is currently being processed and will be arraigned in court once they are through.
